Kenny Rogers' Final World Tour: The Gambler's Last Deal with Special Guest Linda Davis Kenny Rogers' Final World Tour: The Gambler's Last Deal with Special Guest Linda Davis
Kenny Rogers' Final World Tour: The Gambler's Last Deal with Special Guest Linda Davis When Kenny Rogers retires at the end of his current tour he will have sold more than 100 million records, is a member of the Country Hall of Fame and has more number one hits than any other country artists, quite a legacy. In the late ‘50s he joined the Bobby Doyle Three, which recorded for Columbia Records until the mid-‘60s. From there, of course, Rogers went on to rise steadily through popular music—with the New Christy Minstrels, The First Edition and then a solo career that yielded no fewer than 60 Top-40 singles. Most artists would be happy to score one or two hits the magnitude of “Islands in the Stream” or “The Gambler;” Rogers has dozens of them. Even when his hit-making cooled down, Rogers continued to roll from success to success—as a recording studio owner, producer, businessman and actor. His autobiography revealed a self-deprecating side that few who attain his success possess, and his farewell tour, The Gambler’s Last Deal, has shown that he has lost none of his ability to charm audiences with both the depth of his song catalogue and his onstage charisma.

Lindi Ortega Lindi Ortega
Lindi Ortega

There are only an elite few who can hold the unique position of having success with both indie cred and mainstream country recognition.  Lindi Ortega is one of those few.  Winner of the Canadian Country Music Association – Roots Artist of the Year (2014, 2015) Lindi is a sought out and unique artist in the Nashville music community.  Her latest release, the EP, Til The Goin’ Gets Gone grew from a search for some quiet, and lead to rediscovering her own voice.  With a minimal instrumentation and a small production team, Lindi immerses the listeners into an intimate setting for the starkness of the human condition through her evocative soprano.

Lemon Bucket Orkestra Lemon Bucket Orkestra
Lemon Bucket Orkestra

The Lemon Bucket Orkestra is Canada's only balkan-klezmer-gypsy-party-punk-super-band. Born on the streets of Toronto as a busking band in 2010, the original quartet of guerrilla-folk troubadours quickly amassed a battalion of troops armed with brass and bows and started touring the world. LBO has been nominated for several awards, heralded as ground-breaking by international media, and has performed at international festivals across the globe, but their greatest achievement is their ability to embody the dynamic space between "home" and "exotic" and to welcome audiences into the celebration of that space.

LBO's members have even gone as far as the eastern front of the war in Ukraine, using their music as catharsis, support, and even a platform for storytelling and information sharing in a political arena obfuscated by propaganda and misinformation. Their most recent performance project, Counting Sheep, is an interactive video-music-theatre-dinner-play that tells the story of the Maidan Revolution through traditional central and eastern Ukrainian choral songs and welcomes audience members to feel what band-members Mark Marczyk and Marichka Kudriavtseva felt when the protests in Kyiv escalated and snipers opened fire just over a year ago.

Their new album, Moorka, was recorded in a friend's barn in Waterloo right after their 3-month Canadian tour and will be released in cities across the country in March 2015. It will include re-worked folk songs the band learned in Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, and Macedonia from local virtuosos on their last European tour, each tune spiked with a unique blend of funk, punk, psychadelia, blues and swing to give it that now infamous LBO momentum.
